Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives
The Taj Exotica Resort and Spa is a beautiful five star resort in the Maldives with spectacular views over a white sandy beach. Just a short 15-20 minute speedboat ride from Malé airport, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa is a luxurious island getaway that combines style, service and picturesque natural surroundings. This luxury property with its delicately contemporary charm offers its guests the unique experience of an intimate retreat on the shores of the Indian Ocean. The island itself is lush with tropical plants, its natural beauty blending seamlessly with the resort’s thoughtful design. This tropical isle, once known as the ‘Three Coconut Island’ is surrounded by crystal blue waters and covered with lush tropical flora. With endless views of the Indian Ocean, this private retreat makes for a complete and exclusive destination holiday.
The 64 villas and suites of the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa are spread over a small strip of land in the South Malé atoll. The hotel’s villas have a magnificent view of the horizon and the Indian Ocean. Many of them are built on stilts with every possible modern comfort, a beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean and swimming pools whose blue water blends in with that of the lagoon. The most prestigious villa is the Rehendi Presidential Suite with its large living room opening onto a superb wooden terrace and a 12-meter swimming pool. On the beach side, the villas are just a few meters from the sea and are equipped with lovely bathrooms and an outdoor shower in the garden, hidden from curious eyes. The 2 Bedroom Beach Villa Suite with Pool has a private massage room where guests can take advantage of the treatments offered by the sumptuous, Indian inspired Jiva Grand Spa, in total privacy.
The architecture of all rooms is specifically designed to encourage a constant interaction with the ocean. Bathtubs overlook the water. Private sun decks with loungers replete with soft mattresses and water hyacinth cushions open onto vast expanses of the ocean. Each view is private and unique, your own piece of the Indian Ocean. Steps lead into the water, inviting you to an impromptu dip. At night, lanterns light up the pier, their yellow glows completing a truly spectacular setting.
Three restaurants are available to guests with a choice of enjoying refined Asian cuisine at the 24 Degrees on the beach, upscale seafood and grill at the Deep End, or light snacks at the Poolside while admiring the superb landscape. Wine is also featured with an international selection of the finest quality wines, which can be discovered during a meal or during a wine tasting session organized by the Equator Bar. Guests can also ask their personal maître d’hôtel to organize a romantic private dinner on the beach or in the small pavilion on the ocean, a few meters from the hotel.
Exclusive, private and inimitably romantic, this award-winning resort spans the length of a pristine, powder-white beach that gives way to one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives. Taj Exotica Resort and Spa offers its guests the finest in contemporary luxuries and services, including an authentic Indian spa, freshwater infinity pool, endless recreational options and space to just relax and take in a locale that is simply magical. The hotel’s swimming pool is right near the beach, and those who wish to remain active, even on vacation, can use the well-equipped fitness center, or take deep-sea diving classes in order to explore the mysteries of the Indian Ocean. The Spa provides a sauna, a relaxation room and treatment rooms for massage. Guests can dolphin dive at the resort and there are PADI certified courses available.
Spend days on the beach sipping cocktails, at the Spa pampering your body and mind or snorkeling over the beautiful coral reefs, it’s your choice. The southern Malé atoll is one of the most popular in the Maldives because of its proximity to the capital city of Malé. It’s the smallest capital city in the world but interesting nevertheless for those who want to know more about the history of the Maldives. Tourists can visit the city’s mosques especially the famous Huruku Miskiiy Mosque, or they can simply stroll through the town to see how the archipelago’s natives live. Maldivians are very hospitable. They’re accustomed to seeing tourists from all over the world and are only too willing to show you the way to the different sites like the fish market or Port Dhonis. Considered to be one of the most beautiful diving sites in the world, the South Malé atoll possesses a fabulous aquatic seascape with a great deal of coral and schools of fish with hypnotic colors. Experienced deep-sea divers can also swim with the gray sharks or the leopard rays. It’s hard to be bored in the Maldives even though the primary tourist activity is still basking in the sun on the beach. Who can blame them after discovering the exceptional settings of hotels like the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa?

When to go:
Although most Europeans choose to vacation in the Maldives during Europe’s winter months, the scenic Maldive islands are a year-round destination. Any time of the year is basically ideal for visiting these picturesque islands. The best time to visit Maldives often depends on your plans. Surfing and diving, for example, are better during certain months. The Maldives has a tropical climate and experiences dry and wet seasons during the year. The dry season lasts from approximately mid-December to mid-April, while the wet season takes place generally between May to November. April is usually a transition period with hot temperatures and the clearest waters. The dry season features little rain and less humidity, offering travellers from colder climates a tantalising escape. With gentler seas and the best visibility, these months also make for perfect conditions when snorkelling or diving. Although diving is possible throughout the year, aim to reach dive spots on western sides of any atoll from May to November or between December and April on eastern sides. Storms and rain are more likely between May and November. Although still warm, the period is characterized with cloudier skies and much higher humidity. With rougher seas, the wet season is also the best time to visit for surfing enthusiasts. March to October is a great time for surfing in the Maldives.

Sun, sand and surf, what more could a vacation need? If an island getaway is what you crave, look no further than the island nation of the Maldives. We want to showcase the best of what the Maldives has to offer, enticing visitors with their luxury accommodations perched atop the crystal clear waters and white sands of a UNESCO biosphere. The Maldives are an archipelago of 1.192 coral islands grouped into 26 coral atolls in the Indian Ocean. Which means, choosing which one to visit can be a pretty tough decision. Blue lagoons, extensive reefs and an amazing underwater world, you really can’t go wrong with any single island. While visiting this earthly paradise, you’ll never be lacking in exciting activities to participate in between all of that much-needed downtime. If relaxing is your main objective though, be sure to at least squeeze in these six must-do experiences in the Maldives:
Stay in an Overwater Villa
There’s nothing quite like waking up to a pristine, endless ocean view every morning. Staying in an overwater villa is an experience unlike any other; you become one with nature without sacrificing any of your essential amenities. In an overwater villa, you can watch the fish dart beneath you before jumping into the ocean yourself to join them. At the end of another adventure filled-day, you have the luxury of retreating back to a comfortable private space where you can fully relax and rejuvenate. Check it out the luxury villas of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, located on the exotic Emboodhu Finolhu Island, in the middle of one of the largest natural lagoons in the world, just 15 minutes by luxury speedboat from Malé International Airport (picture above). This tropical isle, once known as the ‘Three Coconut Island’ is surrounded by crystal blue waters and covered with lush tropical flora. With endless views of the Indian Ocean, this private retreat makes for a complete and exclusive destination holiday. With 64 impeccably designed villas and suites, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives is luxury redefined. Step in to your own private haven steeped in opulence at one of these spectacular tropical villas. Experience paradise on earth. The resort boasts the Jiva Grande Spa, the first authentic Indian spa outside of India, which offers Ayurveda therapies and a unique Indian bathing pavilion. There is a wealth of water sports and dining experiences available. Dress up for dinner in the exotic 24 Degrees Restaurant, enjoy a moonlit Champagne cruise or pamper yourself with an ultimate romantic getaway in the Ocean Pavilion, nestled in the middle of the lagoon, which starts with a couples aromatherapy treatment followed by sunset cocktail or champagne, and indulge with mouthwatering selection of local and international specialties for dinner.
Snorkel with Whale Sharks and Manta Rays
Hanifaru Bay, conveniently located within the Baa Atoll, is renowned for being the place where the world’s largest gatherings of manta rays can be found during the right season. This area is also home to a score of whale sharks, who flock to the warm waters in search of schools of krill from June to November each year. In addition to spotting many of these gentle giants, visitors lucky enough to snorkel in these waters will have the opportunity to swim amongst one of the richest coral reef systems on earth, which houses a variety of marine creatures.
Take a Private Sunset Cruise With Dolphins
The beauty of the Maldives is even more majestic at sunset. Taking a private cruise around the islands will give you an even greater appreciation of the breathtaking views surrounding you. The best part about this excursion is the company you’ll be keeping. Spinner Dolphins are particularly common around the atolls and love nothing more than playfully jumping alongside boats creating waves.
Enjoy a Spice Shopping
Opposite the Male fish market is a real local’s market: walk past the fishing boats and dhoni along the harbour wall till you come across boxes and boxes of ripe papayas, chillis and enormous bunches of green bananas slung around a rough building. Must-buy items include local spice mixes for heart-warming curries and proto-Golden Roughs: coconut and palm sugar rolled up in dried leaves like cigars for a quick pick-me-up if you’re flagging in the midday heat.
Find your new Screensaver Scenery
You know that picture that comes pre-loaded on your new laptop? Yes, the one with the palm trees and toothpaste-white beaches. It’s probably photographed in the Maldives. Add a hammock, umbrella and icy drink and you’ll know why the little country is high up on the world’s must-visit list. The Maldives straddles the Equator, so temps don’t fluctuate much from the annual average of 30 degrees.
Unique Private Dining
At Taj Exotica Maldives, they offer private dining in mesmeric settings, with handcrafted menus and impeccable service. Their finely curated dining experiences play up the exquisite resort ambience, beachfront and sea view, ultimately romantic!
